There are many facets to a finely cut gemstone. In real life, we are often finely cut, but the gemstone part might just be limestone after all.
And that’s okay, too. Here in my home state of Kentucky, the water runs along the limestone and picks up minerals and earthy stuff and our bodies are reminded of the dust from which God made us.
And some folks say it makes the horses run faster.
Whether your real life is nice and shiny and refractive or reflective like a finely cut gemstone, or multi-layered and earthy like limestone, you just might find something for that oh-so-daily thing we do called living.
Everyday Dishes: Just Us Girls
20 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable,[a] he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. (II Timothy 2:20-21 ESV)
No matter if we feel we are the fine china or the pewter pots, we are here for use. This category will give (especially) women, some hope, some help, some humor.
Grace — By The By
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.[d] (John 1:14-16 ESV)
Grace upon grace. Every single day. Because the Word (Jesus Christ) became flesh and dwelt among us.
Locusts and Honey
FAIR WARNING: This is where I listen and learn and search scripture to find answers, and this is where I hold up the UNMOVING plumb line of God to the erratic beliefs of society. You might be offended. You might be angry. You might disagree with me. I am okay with that.
He asked me, “What do you see, Amos?” I answered, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said, “I’m going to hold a plumb line in the middle of my people Israel. I will no longer overlook what they have done. (Amos 7:8 God’s Word Translation)
I didn’t make the rules, but I try like crazy to follow them. This is the voice crying out in the wilderness of this life. I pray without ceasing that this category makes you think — really think — and that you go back to scripture and find out what God says for yourself.
I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me, and what I will answer when I am corrected. Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.” (Habakkuk 2:1-2 NKJV)
It’s not every day that we read from the book of Habakkuk. But this verse is pretty phenomenal. I need lots of correction, and the best place for that correction is from the Lord. And then, as a writer, I am called to write what I have learned.
This category is encouragement for all the writers
Yo Mama! YOPO
Not a day goes by that I don’t hear YOLO from my children. I have learned that it means You Only Live Once. And I have learned that it is often preceded by “Oh well …”
This category is for all the parents out there. It is full of humor and (hopefully) wisdom and, since You Only Parent Once (YOPO), it’s kind of important that we get it as right as we possibly can.
Happy Reading …
